Why the prices vary so much
The underlying cost of running one of these tools is mostly AI usage: speech-to-text on your call plus a language model generating suggestions. That works out to well under a couple of dollars per hour of live conversation at today's model prices. The rest of the price is positioning. Tools sold as premium career investments charge premium rates; tools priced closer to their costs can charge a fraction of that for the same core experience.
Long commitments are the other lever. Most products in this category discount heavily for quarterly or multi-month plans because a job search has a natural end — customers cancel when they get hired. A quarterly plan roughly matching a typical search is genuinely reasonable; just avoid paying for more months than your search is likely to last, and be careful with lifetime deals for a tool you'll mostly need for a few months.
